Overview
This residential resource is a three-bed home in Winnipeg for male identified youth aged 12-17. Skilled Youth Care Practitioners (YCP), adequate staffing levels, routine and youth engagement contributes to the safety and stability of this placement resource.
Placement plans are youth specific and can be focused on stabilization, reunification, long term placement, and/or transition services, depending on the needs of the youth, family and agency. Our approach is guided by the Circle of Courage ® model and resilience building; focusing on creating opportunities for Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity. We believe in harm-reduction and trauma-informed care. Multi-system case management and wraparound services ensure systems and supports are working together to best meet the goals of the young person.
Our objectives are to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. We ensure youth rights, voice and choice are considered in all decisions made. Adequate food, clothing & safety, regular medical, optical, and dental care are basic needs and inherent rights. Connections and healthy relationships, grounded in trust and genuine care, are also among our most basic needs and embedded in what we do. We integrate guidance into day-to-day life that promotes the natural development of essential life skills and promote school, employment or day programming pursuits based on each young person’s strengths and abilities.
We aspire to provide service and care that respects individual culture, spirituality, religion, gender identity and sexual orientation. Youth are supported to participate in cultural and spiritual services, ceremonies or events as determined by them. Recreational, athletic, music and art activities are promoted and facilitated based on youth interests.
